Counselling with Bec

What to expect

The counselling process

Initial consultation and Intake

Bec will provide an initial 15 minute consultation, free of charge, to briefly understand your needs and concerns, answer any questions you may have about couples counselling, and give some insight into her counselling approach. Bec will then send both partners a questionnaire to gain a bit more understanding of what brings you both to counselling. Once these questionnaires have been completed and returned, we can book our first appointment.

First appointment - initial assessment

The first session will be about gaining insight into your relationship dynamics, current challenges and relationship history. This initial appointment is all about developing a deep understanding of your current challenges in order to provide the best recommendations for interventions that suit your needs. Bec will develop a treatment plan based off of this assessment – which of course, can be adapted and revisited throughout the counselling journey.

Ongoing counselling sessions

Sessions will be guided by The Gottman Method – a highly researched and evidence based therapy for working with relationships. Bec will work with you to develop a deeper emotional connection and friendship, rebuild or repair trust and commitment and support with managing conflict. Bec can support you with developing a common understanding of beliefs, values, and goals within a relationship, creating a shared vision for the future.

Sessions fees and durations

Sessions cost $200, run for 50 minutes and are recommended on a fortnightly basis. The duration of our sessions varies based on the complexity of your relationship dynamics and goals. Long-term benefits are achieved through consistent commitment and active participation in the counselling process.
